Our Journey

A little introduction about our process.

Babies & Beyond is passionate about employing a family-centred approach to care. As a result, parents can have confidence that our practitioners will be companions and advocates on their journey from assessment to treatment.

Begin your Journey with Babies & Beyond Therapy Hub
1. Pre-Assessment Planning

Before your assessment, your Babies & Beyond Occupational Therapist will send you an intake pack to allow our team to be best prepared for your assessment. Paperwork must be returned within 72 hours prior to the assessment.

In your Pre-Assessment Planning pack, you’ll find:

  • Parent/Caregiver Questionnaire
  • Teacher’s Questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Consent Form
  • Fee Schedule
  • Request for any additional collateral that may benefit the assessment (OT, Speech Pathology, Paediatrician, Physiotherapist)
2. Family Centred Assessment

Begins with a 60 minute parent-to-provider consultation, followed by 90 minutes of standardised evaluation and play-based assessment.

All families and their needs are different. Assessments can take 1-3 hours depending on complexity, age and child engagement.

After the conclusion of the initial 90-minute standardised evaluation, your Occupational Therapist may deem it necessary to schedule additional assessment sessions to create a comprehensive overview of your child’s unique needs.

3. Assessment Report

After the completion of the assessment, our Occupational Therapists will provide a detailed report tailored to your needs.

Babies & Beyond will deliver the report within two weeks from the final day of the assessment.

During your assessment, discuss the type of report (comprehensive NDIS report, summary report, etc.) you may require. Reports are charged on a per-hour basis.

4. Feedback Session

In conjunction with assessment report delivery, parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend a feedback and planning session to discuss outcomes, next steps, treatment plans, familial goal setting and discuss funding assistance as required.

5. Commence Treatment

Each session will be carefully planned and tailored to meet the child’s needs and incorporate various strategies and activities to engage and motivate each child.

Sessions last about 50 minutes, depending on the child’s goals, with a review after an average of 12-14 sessions. The number and frequency of therapy sessions will depend entirely on your child’s needs, individual goals and progress.

Therapy may include non-face-to-face time, prescription of home programmes and liaising with teachers and other relevant stakeholders (allied health, carers, etc).
